The Day Our New HP Supplies Were Dumped into the Trash Chute
Yesterday was the most chaotic day that we had at the office. The fire alarm went off and the sprinklers went on, getting almost all the documents the people were working on wet. To top it off, the newly-ordered HP supplies were accidentally dumped on the trash chute. When the maintenance person went to retrieve, it the HP cartridges and HP printer inks were all shattered. The HP photo papers were all soaked in the ink. The HP toner was also shattered and the powder spilled. There was not an item in the box that was usable.
Yesterday was also the deadline for the submission of all the billing papers that will be sent to the clients for collection. The papers, inks, and toners were all very important for the printing of the billing statements. Almost all the printers at the office were running low in ink and toner. The order was rushed but because it got really busy, things got mixed up. The box containing the supply was thought to be the trash that needed to be dumped.
The fire alarm and sprinklers going off capped the day’s unfortunate events. Nobody knew how the alarm went off when there was no fire. The supply room was checked because it usually is the cause of false fire alarm due to personnel smoking in there, but the surveillance camera showed that nobody entered the supply room during the time the fire alarm and sprinkler went off.
Because of what happened, the billing of the clients was delayed. The employees also had to work late to ensure that all billings would be sent the first thing in the morning. Many documents had to be reconstructed and paperwork piled up because of what happened. Employees went home at around 4 in the morning just to make it to the deadline.
